Chemotherapy

Cancer is an invasive disease even in the world of dogs and cats. Because animals are not immune to the cruelty of cancer, pet owners are often faced with the difficult decision of whether or not to seek treatment for their pets. There are many factors to consider when deciding to treat our friends with chemotherapy- such as age, type of cancer, location, and cost, to name a few. At Lombard Animal Hospital we feel cost should not be the limiting factor when deciding whether chemotherapy is an appropriate treatment. Before making a decision for your friend contact the doctors at Lombard Animal Hospital to discuss the specifics of their case. Together we can decide whether chemotherapy or alternative therapies would be best to alleviate their pain and extend their quality of life.

Many chemotherapeutic drugs have to be administered intravenously and the patients must be closely monitored during administration. To help decrease cost Lombard Animal Hospital has instituted a program for our clients- they pay cost for the medications (no mark-up by the hospital) and we charge for administration and patient care only. This provides a winning situation for all involved especially for the patient.

*We, the doctors at Lombard Animal Hospital, are not board certified veterinary oncologists. However, we are compassionate licensed veterinarians with the capabilities to research and perform protocols in a safe, effective manner. Please contact us regarding questions or concerns.
